Sathya Sai Schools

Education today has become very subject-oriented. Teachers are specializing in teaching a subject rather than using the subject as a means to help the child in his or her own development. If we believe that the purpose of education is the blossoming of human excellence, then each subject taught is simply a vehicle to help the children realize their full potential.

In a Sathya Sai School, value education is taught in two ways

• The first is integration of values with extra-curricular school activities.
• The second is a direct method, which uses instructional techniques to teach one of the five human values.

The Institute of Sathya Sai Education [ISSE] believes another effective way of teaching values is by example. Teachers are remembered for what they are more than for what they teach. If a teacher is loving and kind, then everything he/she teaches will automatically be full of values. Teaching that the composition of water is H2O is normal academic knowledge. Teaching the value of water or the proper way to use and conserve it, is Sathya Sai Education in Human Values. Both kinds of teaching must be used together to constitute more balanced education. Once a teacher starts to practice values in his or her life, then to think of ways to integrate values into the classroom becomes easy. The program of Sathya Sai Human Values offers a unique opportunity to both teachers and students. It is an opportunity to grow and develop together.

World-Wide Sathya Sai School Information

The program of Sathya Sai Education in Human Values is now being implemented in many schools in several countries around the world. There are now Sathya Sai Schools in India, Thailand, Zambia, Australia, Indonesia and South Africa. School Profiles are available including plans for future schools. It is the policy of the Institute that values education should be available for everyone and free of charge.

About ISSE

The Institute of Sathya Sai Education was established in order to propagate the ideals of Sathya Sai Education in primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities. The aim of this method of education is to develop human excellence or good character along with academic achievement, in other words the all-round development of the child.

In order to speed up the establishment of Sathya Sai Schools and the adoption of schools, as well as introducing Sathya Sai Education Human Values in schools, colleges and universities in as many countries as possible, it is necessary to have more experienced trainers, who can conduct training seminars for school teachers. It is thus necessary to set up Regional Institutes of Sathya Sai Education in various countries.

The aims of the Sathya Sai Regional Institute are to be a training centre for trainers and teachers in the region and to help arrange the training of teachers in every country. To further the excellence of education, the Regional Institutes are responsible for conducting research on the effect of Sathya Sai Education on children, teachers and parents. This will result in the study and development of techniques for teaching children, methodology, course content and lesson plans. The Regional Institute is also responsible to help and encourage the establishment of Sathya Sai Schools and to adopt schools in every country. In addition, the Regional Institute should contact and introduce the concept of Sathya Sai Education to academics, the Ministry of Education and other governmental bodies.

The Institute assists with SSEHV training seminars in different regions. In addition to courses held at ISSE, teacher seminars and workshops are held in many other countries throughout the world. Presently, the Institute sends lecturers to these seminars, but eventually each country will have its own team of trainers to conduct regional programs.

Another function of the Institute of Sathya Sai Education is to help teachers set up Sathya Sai schools and adopt existing schools. Training on how to set up and adopt a school is incorporated into the diploma course curriculum at the Institute. The goal is to help establish Sathya Sai schools in all regions around the world

The future of the world lies in the hands of the children. The youth of today will become the leaders of tomorrow. Those who help mould this future are parents and teachers.
