Balvikas Gurus Training Camp

A one day district level training camp for Balvikas gurus was conducted on 28th February 2016 at Olavakkode Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithi, Palakkad. The camp started with pleasant Bhajans by Sai Youths at 9.30 am and Smt. Parimila Das K, the district education in charge of SSSSO (Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation), Palakkad inaugurated the function by delivering a valuable talk about Balvikas.

Balvikas which means “Blossoming of human Excellence” started in India in response to Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s call for parents to fulfill the spiritual needs of their children, to assume the responsibility of moulding their children’s character and expose them to the rich culture and spiritual heritage of India which recognizes the unity of mankind. She also emphasized that, in this ‘nine years structured program’ every Balvikas Guru must be a facilitator and enable children to learn and practice the basic human values such as Sathya (Truth) Dharma (Righteousness), Shanthi (Peace), Prema (Love) and Ahimsa (Non-Violence).

Sri. Gopalakrishnan Master (DC, SSSSO Palakkad) delivered an informative talk on ‘Sruthiyum Sthothravum’ (Sruthis and Sthotras) by connecting Dasavathara stories with Darwin’s theory of evolution, he raised a point that,even in this modern world the Puranas (Pura na ithi=Purana ie; Ever green) has their own value and importance.

The next session was on the topic ‘The role of Guru’ was delivered by Smt. Divya, an energetic Balvikas guru in Palakkad district. She said that each guru must follow and practice Non-Judgmental, Unconditional Love, Congruence, Empathy and Genuineness in their life, so that it would help to enhance their psychological approach of teaching.

Miss.Roshni Ramachandran beautifully handled the “value-song” session. The songs sang with expressions (Bhaava) will easily invoke human values on children. She introduced so many ‘new value songs’ to gurus and made them practice too.

After lunch, “value game” session was conducted for the Gurus by SAI DEEP Education wing DIC Ms.Thrupthika. District president Sri.A.V.Sureshkumar concluded the camp by giving an outline about the future plans for the growth of Balvikas. The one day training camp came to an end at 3.30 pm by finally offering Mangalaarti to Swami.
